Hand built Jug with Carved Slip Decoration
 
A quiet countryside scene brought to life in clay. This hand built jug features a graceful pheasant wandering through grasses and wildflowers, with the landscape rising behind it in gentle carved lines. The branch-like handle grows naturally from the form, adding a playful woodland touch.
 
Every detail is carved by hand through black slip to reveal the white clay beneath — a traditional sgraffito technique reminiscent of linocut illustration and Scandinavian folk art. Each jug is completely unique, with its own botanical foreground and storytelling landscape beyond. The finished surface has a beautifully tactile relief quality, inviting you to follow the carved lines with your fingertips.
 
Made from white earthenware clay with black slip and finished with a transparent glaze.
