Handbuilt  Jug with Carved Slip Decoration
 
A peaceful woodland moment captured in clay. This elegant jug features a tree that seems to grow straight from the surface into its delicate branch-like handle. Blackbirds perch among leaves, berries and branches, all carved by hand through a layer of black slip to reveal the white clay beneath — a traditional sgraffito technique reminiscent of linocut graphics and Scandinavian folk art.
 
Each piece is completely unique. I individually carve every jug with a botanical foreground and a whimsical countryside scene beyond, creating a beautifully tactile relief surface that invites you to run your fingers across the lines.
 
Made from white earthenware clay with black slip and finished with a transparent glaze.
