My little hare has come to life! Many of you will have met 'The Big Guy' my huge hare that accompanies me to all my fairs and events. He proved to be a popular fella and many people asked me to create my smaller hair in the same carved surface finish...and so I introduce you to 'The Little Guy'!
 
I originally hand-built my hare based on the character I carve into my sgraffito pieces, it was amazing to see him come to 3D life! From this original hare, I created a mould, so that I am able to slipcast more hares! Each hare is cast in 2 pieces which I then join together, after hand fettling each piece. Once the hares have firmed up, I paint on layers of black liquid clay, I then carve the surface to create the little hair markings revealing the white clay beneath. The hare is then bisque fired, hand painted with a satin matt glaze and re-fired to a high temperature.

The Little Guy measures  225mm long x 180mm tall x 110mm wide
 
Any 'imperfections' should be considered part of his charm!
