I carved this little dish whilst engrossed in Chloe Dalton's beautiful book 'Raising Hare' (if you're a hare fan &  havent read it, you simply must!)...her words inspired this illustration of a hidden Leveret in the grasses.

Porcelain stoneware, thrown dish with hand-carved illustration.
 
I use exactly the same process as I use to make my large platters, a black slip is applied to the surface and carved back to reveal the porcelain white clay beneath. The dishes are then hand-glazed and refired to high stoneware temperature.
 
Each dish is illustrated by eye, so each is unique and slightly different from any other.
 
The dish you will receive is the actual one shown in the first picture.
 
These are handmade items and any 'imperfections' should be considered part of their charm!
